9 Hours Remaining

Wednesday, January 14, 2004 | 12:48AM

I hope everyone had a great break from school and work. School doesn’t start up for me until January 20th, so I’m mostly working this week. In addition to my job at financial aid, I’m also helping my photo professor, Eric, empty out a shed of his, and then tear it down. The coolest part about working with him is the fact that I can get just about as much information out of him as I’d like. For the most part, I can’t talk to him for photography for more than about 3 hours because he has other things going on besides class. But the other probably is that there are usually several other people trying to get his attention as well, so this is a great opportunity for me. Nine François will be teaching my Thesis II class this spring, so there’s yet another person that I’ll hopefully be able to learn a ton from before I graduate in May.

Speaking of graduation, I only have 9 hours left as an undergraduate! I’m taking Thesis II, Color Photography and Issues in Contemporary Art. I want to have a killer thesis show. I’ve never enrolled in this few hours, so I think the extra time I’ll have on my hands will help quite a bit.

My graduate school applications are due very soon, so I’m still trying to gather everything together for them. I’ve been such a slacker in this area. I think the most important thing will be my portfolio, which I spent an unbelievable amount of time on, and that’s going to make or break my acceptance to the schools to which I’m applying.

My Pentacon Six TL is sweet. I’ve only seen the results from a color roll of film, and they were mediocre, but I wasn’t exactly taking the best shots. I can tell it has great potential, so I can’t wait to see the first roll of black and white.

This past Thursday, Stacy and I went to Dallas. I went to a couple of photography galleries, then met at her mother’s jeweler to pick out our wedding bands. My band is the traditional solid band, but it will be white gold. The nice thing about it is that it’s a comfort fit band, so the inside is rounded. It felt great on my finger, so I’m really looking forward to getting it. Unfortunately I still have to wait another 4½ months to wear it.

I need to learn collodion so bad.

Yes, the comfort fit is the shizzle my nizzle. Did you get 14k or 10k?

Whoops, forgot to mention. I went with 14k, and for the most part, I’m happy with it, except that it got banged up really quick. The outside is much duller than the inside already. It may be partly due to the fact that I went with 14k, since it’s a little softer than 10k. Who knows.

I think I’m getting the 14k. Sure would be nice to have platinum, but unfortunately I’m poor.

Someone seems to have put a password on my portal page. I guess I’ll have to do the next obvious step and paste my portal page html into a blog post.
