No More E-mail

I should let everyone know (and this is the most official way I really know) that I am phasing out the use of my walker at crazywalker dotcom address (and those of you who hate SPAM should know why I wrote it out like that… you should do so as well). From now on, I’ll be using the same thing, except it will be @walkerpickering.com instead of @crazywalker.com. It’s just gotten to be too much of a hassle. Over a period of 4 days, I think I received roughly 400 SPAM e-mails. Only about 10 of the e-mails during that period were legit, and I only cared about 3 of those. So if you start getting bounced e-mails, that would be the reason.

I finally found a great site to not only post my work, but to view what I consider usually exceptional work. AltPhotos.com has much higher quality work than most of the other photo community sites out there, and I think that’s partly due to the fact that each member is only allowed 3 uploads per day. For the people who just want to post their erotica and the like, places like photo.net have no limits, so the quality level drops off sharply. But with AltPhotos, you actually have to want to invest your time and energy in the community—something I have yet to really do—and most amateurs and people wanting instant gratification don’t seem to have the patience.

I’m leaning towards investing in a decent 4×5 view camera for after graduation. It would allow me to not only work with what has become one of my favorite formats, but it would also put me in the right direction to attempt wet-plate collodion for the first time. And since I’ll have a little over a year off from school, I think experimentation is probably the best thing to do with my “photo time”.

The wedding planning is going better. We’re finalizing a lot of stuff, although we still have quite a few things to even arrange. It’s mostly details at this point, though. We’ve covered venue, parking, catering, officiant, tuxes, bridesmaid’s dresses (I believe), plans for the decorations, photography, wedding dress, rings, guest rooms, rehearsal dinner, and we’re on the verge of covering the ceremony music. However, we still don’t have a cake or rentals (I think). There’s part of me that says this is totally going to be worth it, but another part that says, “man, I really wish we had just eloped”. Consider it.

Has the traffic to your wedding site picked up since the invites came out?

I think it’s actually gone down overall, believe it or not.

It seems most people are sending the postcard RSVP back instead of doing it online. I guess I should be glad I didn’t work on the online RSVP system more.=)

Odd. Even if they didnt’ want to RSVP online, I would have thought more people would have been curious enough to just visit the site.

Well, I’m going to have to take it off my fridge. Their eyes keep following me around the apartment and keep staring at me when I go for snackables.

It’s creeping me out, man.
