Señor Show

Saturday, April 17, 2004 | 7:01AM

It’s roughly a quarter ‘til 7am and I’m on the verge of completing a 12 hour night here at the photo lab. I’m just waiting for some prints to finish washing as a matter of fact. The great thing is that I haven’’t really felt tired at all tonight, and I know I’ll just crash when I hit the bed in a few minutes. It’s been a good night of printing for me because no one else has been here for at least 6 hours, so there have been no distractions.

A week from this coming Monday is the opening reception for my senior show. I’ve been working on a flyer for it which I think is turning out pretty cool, and hopefully I’ll remember to post it here when/if it’s been approved by the other people in the show. We’ve been throwing around ideas for show names. So far I’ve come up with “Señor Show” and “Graduation is for Quitters“ (an obvious play on the rehab t-shirt quote).

Well it hasn’t really been mentioned on any of our other sites, so I’ll let everyone know here: Stacy got another dog. That, in turn, means that I got another dog as soon as I move up there. Her name is Ginger and she’s a 7 year old golden retriever. She’s very sweet and shy, but it seems she’s deathly afraid of stairs and hard floors. We got her through a golden retriever rescue in the area. She and Homer get along great, but she’s a very different dog. While Homer is normally quite lazy (as she is), he tends to pull on walks and stuff. He’s extremely stubborn, whereas Ginger is just scared if she doesn’t want to do something (like go down those evil stairs). Even the two steps down the back patio are a challenge for her. She’ll learn though. Just tonight Stacy told me that she had been going up and down the stairs fine for once. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I’m going to start looking into possibly getting a teaching job related to art and/or photography. My friend Sara mentioned that she might be getting a job at a charter school out in Wimberley teaching photography, and it got me thinking. My end goal is to teach at the university level, so high school experience would certainly be quite beneficial. I’d really just like to take advantage of my photography degree in some way.

We got what seemed like a rush of RSVPs early on for the wedding, but Stacy told me that they dropped off pretty quickly. We figure most people will wait until the last minute. I guess more than anything I need to stress that everyone needs to RSVP before the deadline, because we’re counting the remaining people as not coming after that time. If so few people end up coming that we actually have leftover space (not likely), then we’ll start inviting those friends around here that we weren’t originally able to invite because of size, budget, etc.
