We’re Back

Sunday, October 24, 2004 | 3:16AM

I couldn’t stay away for too long. I guess I just missed having a place to write about the general nothingness that is part of every day. That’s not to say there’s nothing interesting going on in our lives, but Stacy and I don’t just sit around and talk about photography all day. Heck, to get Stacy to talk about photography with me would almost be weird.=)

So I got rid of all the old entries on the site and I’ve limited CrazyWalker.com to only new entries. It will have the general information that we’ve come to expect as necessary for a site (information about the site, contact information, etc.) but I plan to have much less than was here before. It wasn’t worth messing with anymore, which is part of the reason the site went down in the first place. And because I have a bit of time at work to do web stuff right now, I’m hoping to get all my sites integrated before January.

So for those of you out of my life since the wedding in May, here’s the quick recap:

We got married and I moved up to Austin, and we went on our honeymoon to San Francisco. San Francisco was incredible. When we returned, I was in desperate need of a job, but I wanted to use my degree if at all possible. I worked at Precision Camera which is a pro photo store, in the photo lab. It wasn’t bad, per se, but was fairly monotonous. It didn’t pay too well, didn’t really have benefits, and I had to work every other weekend. On October 1st, I started my new job at the House of Representatives Photography Department. It’s awesome. I’m a photographer… couldn’t really ask for more than that.

Backtracking a bit… Stacy and I realized after I moved all of my stuff in that our 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath duplex was a bit small for how much we were paying. So we began looking around for houses and finally settled on a house in Cedar Park, which is about 10 miles further out from Austin than where we already were. We’re only paying a little more per month in rent, and we’re getting more than twice the space. It’s a grown-up house. We have a guestroom, a darkroom (in progress… technically another guestroom), 3 bathrooms, a walk-in pantry, and tons of storage.

We’re currently in the market for a new (read: used) car. Mine is just becoming more of a hassle than it’s worth. It’s not that it doesn’t run well, it’s just that I shouldn’t have to roll down the window to open the door. But that doesn’t matter anyway, because the window’s already down, because my AC hasn’t worked for a year.

But the most recent big news is that we’re planning a trip to Chicago for November 11-14. It’s somewhat last minute, but we figure that we won’t have much chance for vacation once session starts in January, and it’ll give us a chance to check out the Art Institute. Now that’s what I’m excited about. And since I work for the state, Veteran’s Day is a state holiday, so I’ll just my one day of vacation that I have saved up so far for the Friday off.

It feels good to be writing in this format again. I know I haven’t had much contact with all my close friends in quite awhile, and that stems largely from us all suddenly having lives and not sitting online chatting all night. But hopefully this will give us a venue to keep in touch at least moderately. I know that the blog was supposed to stay up, and I’m working on it, but for now I think this might work.
