Right now it feels like an eternity away, but in less than a month we’ll be enjoying the cooler temperatures of the Denver area. I can’t tell you how eager I am to be leaving Central Texas for the mountains. Oh, what’s that? I didn’t mention it already? Well Stacy and I are taking off a week (over a week, actually) to visit her aunt and uncle in Pine, Colorado, which is Southwest of Denver by about 45 minutes. We went a few years ago during Spring Break. I find myself longing for a big break from work. It’s not because I dread work, but I do feel like I need a lengthy break. My dad would probably think that’s silly, and he’s probably right. But he’s also a harder worker than I am. And I guess that’s a good thing about being young, married and childless. At this point in our lives, we can afford to take a decent vacation every 6 months or so. We went to Chicago in November, and that was totally worth it. Printing in my spare time has been a bit stressful, because Bill has needed an enormous number of prints. Over the last 3 weeks, I printed 71 copies of an image from Lonesome Dove called “Gus on the Front Porch”. It’s by far the most popular image from the miniseries, and I am very familiar with it now. I finally have a working palm pilot again. This time, I got a (relatively) new one on eBay. It was $100 for shipping, insurance and the actual cost, and man was it worth it. It’s a great little PDA, and I think I’m on the road to being organized again. That, and I can play Frogger. It’s probably a long shot, but I’m going to try to arrange a meeting with a photography professor at CU-Boulder again on this upcoming trip. I have a better portfolio now, and I’m just better prepared for graduate school than I was last time I spoke with someone. I was only in my second photography class, and I was showing him images that were all over the place. But that meeting actually helped shape what I did the following semester in creating my Musicians series. Stacy and I spent 4 hours on my grandmother’s lawn yesterday. Interesting way to spend your 4th of July… dying in the Texas midday summer sun. But I’ve realized that while I hate “working out”, I don’t mind at all doing manual labor that would probably put me in decent shape were I to do it enough. Anyone need some heavy stuff moved? CommentsWe’re moving in a month, feel free to come down for the weekend and help out. We’ll take you out for dinner in exchange. =) | Thursday, July 7, 2005 | 12:16PM Who?
