I didn’t really have a reason to post, other than the desire to post this image. I’m not sure who took it, but it was probably my mom. It’s the early 80s in Orange, at the Lions Club Carnival. That’s my Paw Paw Pick (Charles Walker Pickering Sr.), me (Charles Walker Pickering III), my dad (Charles Walker Pickering Jr.), my Aunt Kathy Pickering (sportin’ those KILLER glasses) and my Uncle Greg Pickering (who’s married to Aunt Kathy)… so hopefully that clarifies the entry title a bit. Actually, I’m not even sure if Greg and Kathy were married at that point, but oh well. And for the record, Greg is my dad’s brother, and he’s the same guy that married Stacy and me.

It’s kind of sad to think that a lot of the rides and equipment from that carnival are probably destroyed from the hurricane. I saw some of it when I drove through town back in September, and I’m sure the ferris wheel was the worst off. I didn’t take pictures, though.

I really wish I could’ve known my grandfather as an adult. Who knows what our relationship would’ve been like. He died when I was 12 or 13. I remember him and my grandmother extremely well, but always with that kid memory. Y’know, where everything is bigger and promising. That might even be a good thing… I don’t know.

Nowadays, I see pictures of people and I wish I could take their portrait. Especially my grandparents. I never knew my mom’s father because he died when she was only 3 years old. He looks a lot like my Uncle Lance, though, so that might be an avenue for taking a portrait that could never be taken.

Fotofest was spectacular, but I won’t go into much detail here because I’ve talked about my experience over at BeyondMonochrome.

Yeah, it’s pretty pronounced. Pretty cool picture though.
