Stacy and I have this ritual we like to do every, I dunno, year, year-and-a-half or so. It almost always involves a U-Haul truck (I hate them, but driving something that big makes me feel extra manly… manly+, if you will), but the distance varies. May 29, 2004: Wedding day, my stuff is officially moved into our duplex in the Northwest corner of Austin before the wedding. We spend the night there after the wedding, then go to San Francisco for a week. October-ish 2004: Move out of Austin to Cedar Park, Texas. Big, really nice house. The nicest we’ve lived in. Great deal. Man, we miss that place. January 2006: The owner of the previous house decided to sell, so our indefinite lease ended abruptly. Fortunately, we found a larger (but a little less nice [but still nice]) place even further out from Austin, in Leander, Texas. The place had scorpions, though. No good. But a 6-month lease can’t be beat when you’re waiting to hear back from grad schools. July 2006: Move to Atlanta. Got in this kinda’ crappy apartment and wasn’t too concerned, but oh, Stacy hates it. Present day: We’re moving to a house. The fortunate thing is that we have over a week of overlap between the end of our apartment lease and the beginning of the house lease. So we’re taking it slowly, painting rooms, organizing a bit (a BIT, I say… you know I’m not organized, if you know me at all), and generally making it the easiest move in the history of ever. My buddy Ninja Dave is helping us move the big stuff with the U-Haul on Friday, but in the meantime, this little Nissan Frontier has been a workhorse. Get one, if you just have extra cash lyin’ around. CommentsFinally! An update! I was beginning to feel abandoned Jennifer | Thursday, July 26, 2007 | 7:49PM All Content © Walker Pickering |
