How Much More Not Into This Could I Be?
The blogging thing isn’t all that exciting, at least when compared to real life. There’s enough going on that I haven’t felt compelled to keep up with this thing anymore. But I’ll add a little somethin’ just for good measure.
We’re in Boston… it’s cold. We haven’t moved here, but that’s not beyond the realm of possibility. Right now Stacy and I are visiting my friend Julia from high school, and her boyfriend Chris. They’ve been so gracious to us, and showed us around a very snowy Boston today. Boston is the last leg of this particular trip. In fact, we took Amtrak here from NYC, and before that we were in Philly for a few days. We’ll call this a vacation.
The entire week prior to that, I was in Miami for Art Basel 2007. It was a lot of fun, and I met a lot of people and made a lot of contacts, and spent a lot of money. A lot. Unnecessarily, I suppose, but it’s always good to be aware of your industry. Miami is certainly a great place to visit during the winter. And the 75 degree nights were a nice contrast to the 18 degree nights we are experiencing presently.
But the traveling doesn’t end there! We fly back to Atlanta Monday and arrive around 7:30pm only to catch a flight back to Austin for Stacy’s Christmas party. So that means we/I get to catch up with a bunch of friends and family. Unfortunately, we won’t be staying through Christmas.
Then, around the new year, our friends Hope and Elias will come to Atlanta for a few days. Not quite as exciting as all the places we’re visiting, but it should be a good time nonetheless.
In other news, I graduate at the end of May and hopefully I’ll be teaching at a university near you by August or earlier. I’m in the process of applying for about 26 different positions for which I have varying degrees of necessary experience. I hope to find out if I’ll be getting any of the jobs prior to my actual graduation, but who knows? Worst case scenario (which isn’t bad, in my book) is that I don’t get any full-time teaching jobs and we move to Boston so I can adjunct at multiple schools around town.
Did I mention it’s cold up here?
